Global Director, Procurement Talent Management and Organizational Development                                       

 

The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. is one of the world’s leading manufacturers and marketers of quality skin care, makeup, fragrance and hair care products. The company’s products are sold in approximately 150 countries and territories.  For fiscal 2019, net sales were $14.86 billion and operating income was $2.31 billion. 

 

Responsible for a comprehensive talent management and organizational development strategy for the Estee Lauder Companies Global Procurement Organization. 

 

Current Responsibilities

  • Presently leading the effort to reduce Procurement’s overall attrition rate from 34% (2018-2019) to 8% (2019-2020), resulting in a $1.4M new hire cost avoidance.

  • Act as executive coach to members of the Global Procurement Leadership Team.

  • Manage the Procurement People’s Committee, a task force of high-potential talent from multiple regions and sub-functions designed to help execute the function’s Talent Management strategy.

  • Implementing a modern Procurement Competency model to best help the organization meet its strategic objectives for FY21-23.

Goodrich Development Networks is an Organizational Consulting and Executive Coaching firm developed in partnership with Organizational Dynamics faculty and the University of Pennsylvania that also offers Human Resource Management Software solutions.  With a focus on talent management for the next-generation, our first product offering, (Intern Masters) takes Intern Program best practices from across industries and incorporates them into a cloud-based system that allows students to develop their own intern program management blueprints. 

 

Responsible for shaping the growth path of the organization and developing the overall organizational goals & objectives, strategy, service offerings, software library, marketing plan and client strategy.

 

Current Responsibilities

  • Building the company from ideation through Schedule A funding.

  • Developing a best-in-class talent management solution and system interface currently used by Estée Lauder’s Procurement organizations in order to manage their intern programs.

  • Establishing a living network of over 20,000 current graduate students who actively follow and contribute to the Intern Masters blog.

  • Working in an Executive Coaching capacity for four clients ranging from Executive Director to Vice President.

Bayer is a Life Science company with core competencies in the areas of health care and agriculture.  With their innovative products, Bayer contributes to finding solutions to some of the major challenges of our time. 

 

Responsible for developing and implementing the Bayer Procurement integrated people strategy, including organizational design, leadership and talent development, employee engagement, development and retention. Additional responsibilities during this period included acting as Chief of Staff, Head of Program Management, and Head of Change Management & Communications while supervising direct reports.

 

Key Accomplishments

  • Co-Developed the Procurement Competency model and sourced supplemental trainings to build Bayer’s Procurement Learning Academy that supported 2,400 global employees and contributed to $350M of annual cost savings in 2018.

  • Local Change Lead for the New Bayer Procurement Organizational Transformation merging three business unit procurement groups into one which helped to identify $98M in spend synergies.

  • Designed the Bayer Procurement University Engagement strategy with business schools in the US, Europe and Latin America resulting in 15 international hires.

  • Created the Bayer “Procurement Masters” MBA Internship and International Procurement Management Trainee programs across the US and Europe which helped establish the function as a target destination for top MBA talent.

  • Converted 75% of MBA interns into full-time employees (80% acceptance rate) and 100% retention rate after 2 years.

  • Utilized the International Procurement Management Trainee program in order to build the organization’s talent pipeline and support succession planning.

  • Creator and Global Process Owner for the Bayer Procurement Talent Development Program, “Growth Experiences” (GX-PRO) for High-Potentials.

A Diversity & Inclusion Initiative.  Founded HOPE in 2015, an Employee Resource Group dedicated to supporting Bayer employees who have children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

 

Key Accomplishments

  • Founded the HOPE ERG in order to raise awareness of ASD within Bayer US, LLC and created a support group that Bayer employees could turn to for support and education.

  • Managed a team of 12 volunteers who were responsible for developing ASD educational programs.

  • Influenced Bayer HR Benefits to modify Health Insurance coverage so that employees can receive reimbursement for occupational and speech therapy services for children without an official diagnosis.

Global Lead, Bayer Professional Development Network                                                              September 2012 – November 2018

 

A Leadership and Development Initiative: Founded the Bayer Professional Development Network (BPDN), an Employee Resource Group dedicated to making a positive impact on the business by involving employees in a larger community and providing opportunities to develop leadership skills and expand network connections.

  • Led the organization during a period of growth from the original 4 founders to over 6,000 registered members and 7 international chapters.

Sr. Manager, New Product Development                                                                                                           February 2011 – June 2013

 

Bayer Diabetes Care (now Ascensia Diabetes Care) is a global company dedicated to improving the lives of people with diabetes and helping empower them to take charge of their health and happiness. Worked as a member of the New Product Development Core Team responsible for developing Contour Next USB, Contour Next Link, and Contour from ideation to distribution. Led a team of 13 colleagues, responsible for product and software quality, reliability, clinical trials, cleaning and disinfection, supplier management and the 510k regulatory submission.

 

Key Accomplishments

  • Contour Line of meters contributed €722M in sales for fiscal year 2013 and €658M in 2014.

  • Acted as a standing member of the New Product Development Ideation Team and the Technical Review Board responsible for ensuring all development and testing was done appropriately during development prior to regulatory submission.

 

Bayer Diabetes Care, Mishawaka, IN

Supplier Quality Manager                                                                                                                                          June 2008 – February 2011

 

Utilized enabling technology to implement web-based applications that met 21 CFR Part 11 requirements for electronic databases storing medical records for Bayer Diabetes Care.

 

Key Accomplishments

  • Created the DC Supplier Corrective Action Request Database which drastically improved supplier quality management and metrics for tracking purposes. 

  • Worked with the Global Sourcing Manager for Packaging and identified a $134,000 annual cost savings on corrugate packaging for the Mishawaka, IN facility.

 

 

Applied Materials, Austin, TX

Spares Supplier Distribution and Quality Manager                                                                                          January 2003 – June 2008

 

Applied Materials, Inc. is the global leader in materials engineering solutions for the semiconductor, flat panel display and solar photovoltaic (PV) industries. Managed Supplier Quality Distribution for North America, Asia and Europe.

 

Key Accomplishments

  • Fully developed and standardized the Global Supplier Distribution Quality program while delivering a 55% performance improvement. 

  • Identified a $4M cost savings for the Global Materials Organization by single-sourcing supplier clean room packaging materials.

  • After driving performance improvements in North America, was assigned responsibility of supplier distribution quality at Applied Materials distribution centers in Japan, Taiwan, and Germany.
